Ciao Piro

L'ultimo saluto sarà proprio in Autodromo.

Althea BMW Racing Team satisfied after first WorldSBK round

Althea BMW Racing Team satisfied after first WorldSBK round
Phillip Island (Australia) Sunday 28 February 2016
A truly exciting race today at the Australian track that has been hosting the Superbike series ever since 1990. The many fans spread around the sun-kissed track over the three days today witnesses what was an extremely hard-fought battle from beginning to end.
RACE 2 (22 laps, 97.790 km)
When the light went off, the two Althea BMW Racing Team riders started from the fourth row, in eleventh (Reiterberger) and twelfth (Torres) position with their BMW S 1000 RR machines.
“Reiti” made a strong start, earning two positions on the second lap, and was lying ninth until lap six, while Jordi was caught up in traffic through the first corners after a bad start, and was lapping fifteenth on lap one. Making up three position, the Spaniard from Rubì was able to reach his teammate on lap five. The pair completed six laps one in front of the other until Reiterberger decided to pass the rider ahead of him, to position eighth on lap thirteen. During the following lap he made a mistake that allowed both Torres and then Brookes to pass him. At this point, a strong Torres maintained eighth position and was able to cross the line in an excellent seventh position. Reiterberger finished behind him, eighth.
The week was characterised by two crashes during testing, one for each rider, and by a crash in Race 1 for Markus Reiterberger. The riders’ physical condition was therefore less than perfect. The BMW technicians and engineers are nevertheless satisfied with this first event and now prepare for round two, in Thailand, aware that they have identified a solid base for the bike and that the riders are well capable of exploiting the strengths of the BMW S 1000 RR.
c5488146-aadb-4d82-8cf5-c4255b4ecbfc
“I had a problem at the start and realised we have more work to do. In the end I was able to find good race pace, once I got through the traffic at the start, and was able to ride as I wanted. I felt comfortable on the bike, gained confidence and tried to push ahead but I did not succeed. I’m satisfied anyway because we’ve collected a lot of information and are starting to understand how to prepare for the race. I’m pleased that the next round is in Thailand because I really enjoyed riding there last year. The people are wonderful and the show is guaranteed.”
0feb8967-be46-4bbe-a9fe-8304cd4ad28e“In this second race I had to fight at the start. At the beginning of lap one I think I lost some positions but I was quickly able to make that up. The race was fun, I had a good battle with Brookes who was always close. Then I made a mistake and he passed me. This made me mad but on the final lap I was able to get in front of him. I’m not pleased with eighth place but I am happy that I finished the race without crashing, and also that we were able to resolve the small problems we had over the weekend. Now I will rest a little to be in the best possible shape for the next races in Thailand.”
Testatina_Genesio_Manager
“Overall I’m very pleased with this first race weekend with our new BMW S 1000 RR bikes. We were finally able to understand where we’re at after the brief work carried out at home during testing. I’m pleased with the 7th and 8th place scored by Torres e di Reiterberger. Of course we are working to be a lot further ahead, but what penalised us to today, particularly Jordi, was a bad start, which meant there was already a 5 second gap between him and the leaders by lap two. Markus, despite having suffered a bad crash in race 1, did very well to manage the pain in his right hand and left foot that bothered him during the whole of race 2.
I have great faith in the work of the team and the German technicians, who have collated more data here so that we can react quickly with regard to the next round in Thailand.”

RAFFAELE DE ROSA PODIO 3° CLASSIFICATO SSTK 1000 with frentubo brakelines

Magny Cours (Francia), 04 ottobre 2015
Matteo Baiocco“Una domenica positiva per me.
Magny Cours (France), 4 October 2015
The penultimate round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship has concluded at the French track of Magny Cours.
Niccolò Canepa concludes race 1 in tenth place and race 2 seventh, while Matteo Baiocco closed seventh in the first race and eleventh in race 2.
It was already a difficult morning with riders having to deal with a wet warm-up session as a result of overnight rain. The short session also closed prematurely after a crash for another rider left oil on the track. Subsequent sessions were delayed and other warm-ups cancelled as a result.
In race 1 riders took to the track with rain tyres despite the fact that it was no longer raining. Baiocco made a cautious start, not wanting to make mistakes and despite having started further back on the grid he was able to make a great recovery. After executing a series of perfect passes, he was forced to manage the tyre wear in the later stages, closing the race in seventh place.
Canepa unfortunately had to deal with a technical problem that slowed him down throughout the entire race. Niccolò, having started from the front row, did his best to limit the damage, concluding nevertheless inside the top ten.
In race 2 weather conditions had improved and the temperature was higher. With a different set-up and tyres, Canepa was able to put together a good race this time around, sticking with the leading group. He crossed the line in final seventh position.Baiocco struggled with a physical problem (likely an intestinal virus) but by gritting his teeth he was able to finish eleventh, consolidating his position – eighth – in the general standings.
The Superstock 1000 Championship concluded today, with Althea rider Raffaele De Rosa a frontrunner in the difficult but exciting race. After yesterday’s qualifying, Raffaele started the race in ninth position and was already able to make up several places in the early stages, soon moving into the lead, a position he was able to hold for several laps.
Unfortunately he had to use the tyres more than usual in order to catch up and suffered a sudden drop in performance as a result. He was overtaken on the penultimate lap by Guarnoni and Calia, to conclude in third place. The sixth podium of the season, out of eight races, for De Rosa, who concludes the Superstock 1000 championship in final third position.
Matteo Baiocco“It’s been a positive Sunday for me. In race 1 I really had fun, I had a great wet set-up and completed a good race. In the final stages a drop in tyre performance forced me to manage the situation and I closed seventh but I’m pleased with how I did. In race 2 I didn’t do so well also because I was feeling unwell. Now we focus on Qatar where I want to do as well as possible in the final races of the year.”
Niccolò Canepa“Overall I’m satisfied with my performance this weekend, as I was constantly among the frontrunners. Unfortunately in race 1 I was slowed down by a technical problem that really made me suffer. I’m sorry because I could have done very well. In race 2 I maintained a strong pace to close seventh, a good result. Now we go to Doha where I’ll try to close the season on a high.”
Raffaele De Rosa“The race was very difficult because I was started from further back on the grid. I held the lead for several laps and did all I could to win the race. It wasn’t easy even though I fought all the way to the end. I want to thank my team, Genesio Bevilacqua, and my family for believing in me and giving me the great opportunity I have had this season.”

(Motoblog)
It was an extremely positive first day for Sam Lowes and Team Speed Up at the Motorland Aragon circuit. The Briton was among the protagonists of the first day of the Grand Prix weekend.
Leading the first practice session with a lap time of 1’53.700, he was able to lower his time despite the significant increase of atmospheric temperature, 27 ° and asphalt, 41 °.
Sam concluded the FP2 in 5th position with a lap time of 1’53.541 and a good feeling with his Speed Up.
SAM LOWES -5° – in 1’53.541“I’am really happy with today in the hot conditions this afternoon we were quite strong, we used the hard tyres and made ’53 which is good, then in the new soft tyres we improved a little bit but we I had some traffic and not nice rhythm. We didn’t show our full potential but this is good because is only Friday and I feel happy on the bike I feel relaxed, I made long run in a good way. I like this track, I think we have a good possibility to make a good race, I’m looking forward to tomorrow. The Team have done a great job, hopefully we can improve a little bit in the morning and fight for pole position”.
