Sam laid the foundation on Friday, he “played” with rivals and fine withdraw the pole-position. The race started successfully from the beginning. Though on the start Kawasaki riders, for example, Florian Marino (Intermoto Ponyexpres Kawasaki), got ahead, but in the slow part of the track Sam overtook them on his R6. On the second lap Sofuoglu made a mistake and was absolutely surrounded by pursuers. A few laps for the Russian rider was enough to grow the advantage brilliantly finishing on the rear wheel. The audience greeted him with a storm of applauses. Sam was in his usual pace, all laps except the last one was within 1’31. After the race Sofuoglu recognized that he had no chance to reach Sam as the last one is too strong.
«I wanted to win this race at any cost! Thanks a lot to my team, they helped me to do this! After the warm-up we made some settings and I even didn’t make efforts to finish in such good pace. Now we are ready to win the title of the Champion.”, - said Sam Lowes after the race.
On the contrary, Vladimir Leonov had to make great efforts for regaining 10 positions as the Donington Park is much more narrow than track in Monza and there is only one wright trajectory in slow hairpins.
«Only in the morning we finished working with settings and during the warm-up I felt how works brakes in Donington. I was sure that could regain many positions during the race. And thought only about this when was on the start. This track is very difficult for overtakings. At the end I was very tired trying to get points for the team. It’s very important that I am getting closer with my bike after each race. I will try to get better results in Portimao and Imola.”, - said Vladimir Leonov.
