Forza Randy!

Monaco, 5th August: 18 days on from the race awful crash in Sachsering that fractured his left tibia and fibula the LCR Honda MotoGP racer Randy de Puniet feels ready to get back in Brno. The Frenchman underwent a successful two-hour operation on his left leg Sunday night after the German GP to insert a titanium rod and started an intensive rehabilitation program to be fitted for the Czech Republic GP on the 15th of August.
De Puniet: “The first GP I watched on TV since my debut (Laguna Seca) it was a bit hard for me but in the mean time it was good to me to take some rest. A couple of days after the surgery I left the German Hospital to begin the Hyperbaric Chamber sessions in Saint Marguerite Hospital in Marseilles under the supervision of Dr. Mathieu Coulange and his team. This machine increases both the pressure and oxygen levels to help repair the tissues of the body at a faster rate. Then I moved to Cannes to pursue my reeducation. I made sessions of ultrasounds to strengthen a little more m y bones. Last Monday I moved back home in Andorre pursuing the ultrasounds sessions with a domestic machine and I finally started to do some sports. Every day I go to the gym for cycling and I am training the top of my body with rubber bands and exercises. The doctors are always surprised with the speed with which I recover, and I have to admit that I am as surprised as they are! I use less and less my crutches. I still hope to be back for next Grand Prix … however the final decision will be made in Brno next Thursday when the circuit Doctor together with Doctor Costa will examinate my leg and my overall physical condition”.


DE PUNIET PRONTO PER TORNARE IN PISTA A BRNO
Monaco, 5 Agosto: 18 giorni dopo lo spaventoso incidente del GP del Sachsenring che gli causato la frattura della tibia e del perone della gamba sinistra, il pilota del Team LCR Honda MotoGP Randy de Puniet si dice pronto a tornare in pista a Brno. Il Francese, che ha superato positivamente l’intervento chirurgico post gara di quasi due ore durante il quale i medici gli hanno inserito un perno in titanio per riparare la frattura, ha iniziato fin da subito un intenso programma di riabilitazione per essere pronto per il GP della Repubblica Ceca il prossimo 15 Agosto.
De Puniet: “Era la prima volta dal mio debutto che seguivo un GP (Laguna Seca) in TV e non è stato facile ma nello stesso tempo ho avuto la possibilità di riposarmi un po’. Un paio di giorni dopo l’intervento ho lasciato l’ospedale in Germania ed ho iniziato i trattamenti nella Camera Iperbarica all’Ospedale Saint Marguerite a Marsiglia seguito dallo staff del Dottor Mathieu Coulange. Questa macchina aumenta la pressione e il livello di ossigeno in modo da velocizzare la riparazione dei tessuti del corpo. Poi mi sono spostato a Cannes per proseguire la riabilitazione iniziando delle sedute di ultrasuoni che servono a rafforzare le ossa. Infine Lunedì sono tornato a casa ad Andorra ed ho continuato con gli ultrasuoni in casa attraverso un apparecchio domestico e ho finalmente cominciato a fare sport. Tutti i giorni vado in palestra a fare bici e alleno la parte alta del corpo con esercizi specifici ed elastici. I dottori rimangono sempre stupiti dalla rapidità con la quale sto recuperando le forze e sinceramente sono sbalordito anche io! Ogni giorno che passa uso sempre meno le stampelle. Spero vivamente di poter scendere in pista a Brno… tuttavia la decisione finale spetterà al Medico del circuito e al Dottor Costa che esamineranno la mia gamba e le mie condizioni globali Giovedì prossimo”.
