Super raund, for frentubo team!

Germany's Max Neukirchner (Alstare Suzuki) and Spain's Ruben Xaus (Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati) picked up the two wins in today's eighth round of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship at the Misano World Circuit in front of 68,000 spectators. With two third places, Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) increases his lead in the championship to 49 points.
Race 1: Neukirchner grabbed the win in the first race to take his second victory of the year. After playing a waiting game in the early laps, the German stepped up the pace in the second part of the race to catch and pass frontrunners Xaus and Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB), who went on to finish fourth and second respectively. Third place on the podium after an inconsistent run went to points leader Bayliss. Following a disappointing qualifying session, Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) managed to hold off the competitive privateer Ducatis of Lorenzo Lanzi (RG) and Jakub Smrz (Guandalini). Nurburgring winner Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha Motor Italia WSB) had a difficult race, finishing tenth after starting from row 4, while Max Biaggi (Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati) was taken out by Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) in a collision on lap 12.
Max Neukirchner: "Unbelievable! My team did a really good job this weekend, in the practice we changed a lot, up and down with the bike, and couldn't find the right settings, but in the race it was unbelievable. In the beginning it was not possible to get close to Bayliss and I had to push very hard, but then it was easier to find a good line. The other guys were a little bit slower than me, the two Troys, and I'm just so happy."
Troy Corser: "I didn't make it easy for myself from the start of the race because I didn't get into the first corner too well, then I touched a few riders and was about sixth or seventh on the first lap. I pushed really hard, and maybe used my tyre up a little bit because by the end of the race I had nothing left. I could see that I was a little bit faster than Bayliss and once I got past him, I pushed to catch Max, but just couldn't get him and once the tyres are greasy it's easy to throw it away so I settled for second."
Troy Bayliss: "It was really hot like every year here. I was feeling pretty confident before the race and we ended up choosing the hardest tyre in the rear. But I sort of struggled with it the whole race and then did my best laps towards the end, when it was too late, but can't take anything away from Troy and Max, they were riding really well."

Race 2 : The second race of the day saw a sensational and unexpected 1-2 win for the private Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati team. The 25 points went to Ruben Xaus, who took his first win of the year, ahead of Max Biaggi, who capitalized on a mistake by Bayliss to grab the second podium slot. Fourth and fifth went to the two Yamahas of Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser, with Nitro-Nori making amends for his disappointing race 1. Lorenzo Lanzi again went well to finish sixth, while Neukirchner was unable to repeat his brilliant race 1 win. With his eighth place finish Carlos Checa has now been overtaken by Neukirchner in the points standings.
Ruben Xaus: "It was a nice win but at the beginning it was hard. We had three starts today and the last one was the worst! I think the clutch slipped a bit and I lost a little time. I wanted to recover because I knew that Corser and Bayliss would pull away. For the first 10 laps I had a lot of movement at the rear. Then my team-mate attacked me twice, I closed the door and with ten laps to go I started to do 37s, 37s, 37s. Today my mechanics did an incredible set-up and an incredible job, a big thanks to Team Sterilgarda Go Eleven!"
Max Biaggi: "I think it was a pretty good race. I was so fed up after race 1 when Fabrizio hit me at the back and took me out. Too bad, I didn't expect that. I think this year is the most difficult or unlucky of my career, but I have to say that in Superbike we always have a second opportunity with race 2. I made a good start from row 2 and was in the top 2 or 3 all the time. In some parts I was losing and in others I was gaining, then at the end of the race my tyre went completely off and although my team-mate slowed, it wasn't enough for me."
Troy Bayliss: "Honestly I think this has been one of the hardest days of my career. I felt pretty good all weekend, but we thought the hard tyre in the first race could have been the problem. We changed that for race 2 and it was a bit better, but towards the end I was struggling and the back was coming round. Hats off to the guys, they rode brilliantly but I improved my points lead. I suppose that's what it's all about but I would have loved two wins today."

Il tedesco Max Neukirchner (Suzuki) e lo spagnolo Ruben Xaus (Ducati) si sono aggiudicati le vittorie nelle due gare dell'ottavo round dell'HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship a Misano davanti a 68.000 spettatori. Con due terzi posti, Troy Bayliss (Ducati) ha aumentato la sua leadership in classifica di 49 punti.
Gara 1: Convincente ed autoritaria vittoria, la seconda in stagione, di Neukirchner in gara 1. Il pilota tedesco, dopo una prima parte di gara attendista, ha cambiato ritmo nella seconda, andando ad agganciare e a passare il duo di testa composto da Ruben Xaus (Ducati) e Troy Corser (Yamaha), piazzatisi rispettivamente in quarta e seconda posizione. Sul terzo gradino del podio è salito il leader di campionato, Troy Bayliss (Ducati), autore di una gara un po' a strappi. Ottimo quinto posto di Carlos Checa (Honda) dopo prove un po' problematiche, che è riuscito a tenere dietro le scatenate Ducati private guidate da Lorenzo Lanzi e Jakub Smrz. Gara in difesa per Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha), che ha concluso decimo dopo essere partito dalla quarta fila. Usciti di scena due dei grandi protagonisti, Max Biaggi e Michel Fabrizio (Ducati), entrati in collisione nel corso del 12esimo giro.
Max Neukirchner: "Incredibile! Il mio team ha fatto davvero un buon lavoro questo weekend, nelle prove di qualifica abbiamo apportato molte modifiche alla moto e non riuscivamo a trovare il giusto assetto ma in gara andavo benissimo. All'inizio non riuscivo a superare Bayliss ma ho dovuto spingere molto e quando l'ho superato sono riuscito a trovare la traiettoria giusta. Oggi i due Troy erano leggermente più lenti di me e sono veramente felice di questa vittoria."
Troy Corser: "Mi sono complicato la vita fin dalla partenza perché sono entrato male nella prima curva, poi ho toccato un paio di piloti e alla fine del primo giro ero sesto o settimo. Ho spinto davvero forte e ho consumato molto la gomma anteriore perché alla fine della gara era finita. Ho visto che ero leggermente più veloce di Bayliss, l'ho superato e poi ho cercato di raggiungere Max ma quando le gomme sono cosi usurate è facile cadere così mi sono accontentato del secondo posto."
Troy Bayliss: "Era veramente caldo, come ogni anno qui. Ero molto fiducioso prima della gara e alla fine abbiamo deciso di usare la gomma più dura al posteriore. Ho avuto qualche problema durante tutta la gara ma ho fatto i miei migliori giri alla fine negli ultimi giri quando ormai era troppo tardi. Faccio i miei complimenti a Troy e Max, sono andati davvero forti."

Gara 2 : Clamorosa doppietta del team Ducati Sterilgarda in gara 2. A vincere è stato Ruben Xaus, al primo successo stagionale, davanti a un ottimo Max Biaggi, che ha sfruttato un'imbarcata di Troy Bayliss (Ducati) per strappargli il secondo posto. Quarto e quinto posto per le Yamaha di Noriyuki Haga e Troy Corser, con il pilota giapponese che ha riscattato alla grande la anonima gara 1. Ancora una volta prestazione convincente di Lorenzo Lanzi (Ducati), sesto, mentre Max Neukirchner (Suzuki), settimo, non è riuscito a replicare la brillante prima prova. Solo ottavo Carlos Checa (Honda), che si è visto scavalcare in classifica generale dal pilota tedesco.
Ruben Xaus: "E' stato bello vincere ma all'inizio e' stata davvero dura. Abbiamo avuto tre partenze oggi e l'ultima e' stata sicuramente la peggiore. La frizione e' slittata un po' e ho perso un po' di secondi e poi per i primi dieci giri il posteriore ballava parecchio. Il mio compagno mi ha attaccato due volte, ho chiuso la porta e verso la fine ho iniziato a fare i giri in 1'37....I meccanici oggi hanno fatto un lavoro incredibile quindi un ringraziamento speciale va al Team Sterilgarda Go Eleven!"
Max Biaggi: "E' stata una bella gara. Ero cosi avvilito dopo gara 1, Fabrizio mi ha fatto cadere e mi ha buttato fuori. Pazienza... Penso che questo sia l'anno più difficile o sfortunato della mia carriera, ma in Superbike c'è sempre un'altra opportunità con gara 2. Ho fatto una buona partenza dalla seconda fila e sono rimasto tra i primi per tutta la gara."
Troy Bayliss: "Onestamente penso che sia stato il giorno più duro della mia carriera. In gara 2 abbiamo scelto una gomma più morbida di gara 1 ma ho avuto gli stessi problemi con il posteriore che scivolava. Tanto di cappello a Ruben e Max, hanno guidato incredibilmente bene ma sono comunque riuscito ad aumentare il mio vantaggio in classifica. Va bene cosi ma mi sarebbe piaciuto vincere entrambe le gare."

Mondiale Supersport
Terza vittoria in quattro gare per Andrew Pitt (Honda), che ha concluso in assoluta tranquillità dopo che il suo avversario diretto, Broc Parkes (Yamaha) è scivolato nel corso del nono giro. A Misano c'è stata la tripletta della Honda, visto che sui due restanti gradini del podio sono saliti Craig Jones e Jonathan Rea. Al quarto posto si è piazzato Fabien Foret (Yamaha), che ha perso la possibilità di lottare per il podio andando lungo alla prima curva e rientrando in 16esima posizione. Buona la prestazione di Mark Aitchison con la Triumph, che ha preceduto Massimo Roccoli, settimo e primo degli italiani. A punti sono andati anche Ivan Clementi (Triumph), Gianluca Vizziello (Honda), Gianluca Nannelli (Honda) e la wild card e leader del CIV Danilo Marrancone (Yamaha).

Superstock 1000
Un avvincente duello tra Alex Polita (Ducati) e Davide Giugliano (Suzuki) ha contraddistinto la gara della Superstock 1000. Ci si aspettava la decisione in volata invece una scivolata di Giugliano ha lasciato via libera al rivale, che ha così centrato la prima vittoria stagionale. Sul secondo gradino del podio è salito quindi Michele Pirro (Yamaha) mentre sul terzo l'ottimo Maxime Berger (Honda), pupillo del due volte iridato Supersport Sebastien Charpentier. Brendan Roberts (Ducati), quarto, ha recuperato due punti nei confronti del leader di campionato Xavier Simeon (Suzuki) ma il belga è stato protagonista di una grandissima prova, visto che ha gareggiato con una clavicola rotta.
